Day 4
London: Today was "British Museum Day" as it is unofficially called. All of the English classes visited the British Museum in the morning to peruse an extensve collection of artifacts, including the Rosetta Stone and the Elgin Marbles (taken from the Parthenon). All classes met today, and the first round of papers and tests starts tomorrow. The Graphic Design class took the afternoon to visit the London Dungeon, an interesting mix between a theme park and a museum that documents London's more grisly past. Students are settling into the neighborhood and learning their way around the tube and bus systems. Everyone seems to have adapted to the time difference and the lifestyle difference fairly well.
Paris: These past few days have been busy, but many students have found the time to take in some city sight-seeing and shopping in the evening. The Eiffel Tower at night is truly a sight to see! Today marks our second full day in Paris and the first day many have finally felt relief from jet lag. Our morning began with all classes meeting in the hotel for a short orientation and French lesson from Professor Hertich. Following our meeting, we went our separate ways as individual classes for the day’s lessons. Dr. Brown and the French Revolution class headed to the Cognac-Jay museum for a study of 18th century art, while Professor Carlson and the Art class headed to the Louvre and the famous Père Lachaise cemetery of East Paris. Professor Hertich and his class took in some history by visiting the Arc de Triumph and Eiffel Tower. Many of us used the afternoon to explore the city and take in sites such as Notre Dame. As we continually explore the city, our knowledge and enjoyment of Paris grows every day!
