Study Abroad

May/Summer 2007

Day 4

London: The morning was uneventful with classes and journals to write. The afternoon though was spectacular! We had a low tea. The name came from how it was traditionally served on coffee tables but we mostly called it the “high” tea. Everyone dressed up for the occasion and looked quite nice. We met the Bradley University Continuing Education group of adult travelers at their hotel for the tea and also met quite a few Bradley alums. After enjoying sandwiches, cakes, and of course tea, the conversation turned to our experiences here in London thus far and the upcoming events of the night. The students were going to the Victoria Palace Theatre to see Billy Elliot and the Continuing Education group was going to the Prince of Wales Theatre to see Mamma Mia. Billy Elliot was amazing! The cast and the music were enjoyable and the storyline was inspiring.  It was a late night but well worth it. Now it’s off to bed so we can start a brand new day in London. ~Emily

Vienna: After the morning class sessions, a group meeting, and a short German lesson by the professors, the students were free to roam the city. Many shops and tourist sites were closed due to the public holiday Whit Monday, but there is always something to do in Vienna. Some students hiked the trails and explored the Vienna woods. Others visited museums and the State Treasuries. Still others enjoyed a tour of the first-rate cafés of Vienna, like the world-famous Sacher Hotel with its esteemed dessert: the Sachertorte. ~Maddy
